Dir: Aoyama Shinji / JAPAN / 2000 / Japanese / Color / 35mm / 64 min

Documentary by the Cannes-honored director Aoyama Shinji, based on the 16mm film left behind by novelist Nakagami Kenji.

The Cat Leaves Home (“Inuneko”)
Dir: Iguchi Nami / Cast: Enomoto Kanako, Fujita Yoko / JAPAN / 2004 / Japanese / Color / 35mm / 94 min

Work by director Iguchi Nami, recipient of the 2004 New Director’s Award from the Directors Guild of Japan. Depicts a daily landscape of subtle change in the relationship between two girls.

* For a 100-yen discount (up to 3 tickets, junior high school and above), bring a printout of the YIDFF website top page on the screening day. Same discount applies for the discount pass attached to the June 1 issue of “Docu Yama!” (film festival magazine distributed mainly within Yamagata.)
* Tomonokai members admitted at pre-purchased ticket price. Please show your membership card at the counter. (Applications available on the screening day. 1,000 for 6-month membership fee includes free admission to Yamagata Film Libarary Friday Theater.)
