Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival 2023 reached its closing, after eight days of welcoming over 22,000 attendees, filmmakers and jurors from around Japan and beyond. The streets of Yamagata were once again bustling with the energy of people proudly displaying their festival tickets and passes. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who made their way.
This year again, an army of volunteers and location staff spared no effort to support the festival in myriad ways. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
We hope each of you had enriching encounters, be it with films or with people.
Our next Festival will be held two years from now, in 2025.
We look forward to seeing you again in Yamagata.
