YIDFF 2005 FAQ


Q: When will the film festival be held?
A: Friday, October 7 to Thursday, October 13, 2005

Q: When will the screening program and schedule be finalized? And where and when will it be available?
A: Programs including International Competition and New Asian Currents will be announced on the YIDFF website and the YIDFF News in August 2005.
The program leaflet will be available in August 2005 from Yamagata City ticket centers, cinemas, community centers, YAMAGATA Documentary Film Library, Yamagata City Office (Film Festival Office), art house theaters (Sapporo, Tokyo, Osaka etc) and audio-visual cultural facilities across Japan.

Q: How many screening venues are there?
A: Although it is not finalized, looking at the Festival in 2003, there were a total of 8 venues. (Four public halls and four cinemas.)

Q: How much are the tickets and where can I purchase them from?
A: The price of advance sale tickets is not finalized, however an announcement will be made by August 2005. These will be on sale at convenience store across Japan, Ticket Pia, Yamagata City Play Guides, local cinemas and the Yamagata City Office (Film Festival Office).

Q: Can I obtain information or recommendations about accommodation in Yamagata?
A: Information about hotels and ryokans located in Yamagata City will be available in August 2005 on the YIDFF website and the YIDFF News.

Q: I’d like to play a part in the festival, but what can I do?
A: YAMAGATA International Film Festival takes place with the generous cooperation of many volunteers. Some 246 volunteers participated in the previous festival. Their main activities included: preparation and advertisement (such as the delivery of posters and flyers); ticket reception at venues; attending guests; the research, editing and publishing of the “Daily Bulletin”; the running of the Komian Club for interaction between guests and local citizens; collection and editing of Festival related articles; the organization of the Citizen’s Prize and more.
Deadlines for volunteer recruitment will be announced in June 2005. At the 2003 Festival, recruitment took place in June 2003 and was advertized in local newspapers, radio and Yamagata City’s Official Information Publication, the YIDFF website and the YIDFF News.
