-- “I take the Laure character in As Fast as You Can and do this short film for Fear, which was just a commission from a scientific journal. It was a pilot that INA was trying to sell to FR3. It was five-to-seven minute movies, each one about a different scientific subject. Mine was fear, other people had electricity . . . Right away I said, ‘Great. I’ve got a 45 minutes movie, Birth. I’ve got an hour-long movie, As Fast as You Can. And now Fear is going to be the footnote to that,’ because it really is around fear—what I think these people are seeing as they see themselves in the mirror. That way of thinking about the commissions was extremely liberating.”
