Call for entries begins on September 1, 2022.

Entry Deadlines
International Competition:
  • First Deadline: December 15, 2022 (for works completed before October 31, 2022)
  • Second Deadline: April 15, 2023 (for works completed after November 1, 2022)
New Asian Currents: May 15, 2023


2022-07-29 | YIDFF 2021 revival screening “YIDFF 2021 ON SCREEN!”

A revival screening event of YIDFF 2021, “YIDFF 2021 ON SCREEN!” will be held on October in Yamagata. This will be the first opportunity to watch main films of YIDFF 2021 on theater screens in Yamagata. We are planning to screen about 30 films, including The Robert and Frances Flaherty Prize (The Grand Prize) winner, Inside the Redbrick Wall (International Competition), The Mayor’s Prize winner, Camagroga (International Competition), and Ogawa Shinsuke Prize winner, Little Palestine, Diary of a Siege (New Asian Currents) and others.

2022-07-29 | Documentary Dream Show—Yamagata in Tokyo 2022

Documentary Dream Show—Yamagata in Tokyo is here again! YIDFF’s program travels to Tokyo, as usual, one year after the festival in Yamagata city, showcasing titles from the International Competition and New Asian Currents, selected films and other special programs. Adding feature programs unique to the Tokyo event, the lineup will consist of about 45 films. Look out for details that will be announced shortly!
