Entry: Entry FAQ
About Entry Form
Q: My film is qualified for submission to both International Competition and New Asian Currents. Which should I apply to? What is the difference?
A: The International Competition is open to mid-length and feature-length films from around the world produced in the past two years. For New Asian Currents, there is no restriction on production year or running time, but the film must be related to Asian regions or made by filmmakers with Asian roots. If your film is qualified for both programs, you are free to apply to either. In any case, we recommend that you make your submission early and not immediately before deadline, so as to allow as many selection committee members to view your film as possible.
Q: Does the film require a World Premiere or Japan Premiere status to be accepted?
A: YIDFF submission does not require World Premiere status, but for entries in International Competition category, non-Japanese films should not have had a theatrical release in Japan. For Japanese films, there are no premiere requirements, including theatrical releases.
Q: I have not received any confirmation email from YIDFF after sending my entry form.
A: Please check the spam folder at your email app. If you cannot find the emails there, please contact us at entry2027@yidff.jp. Do not resubmit your application form.
Q: Is there a limit to the number of entries one entrant can submit?
A: There is no limit on the number of entries, but please ensure you complete the entry form for each individual work.

Q: Is it possible to submit my work by a method other than an online screener?
