  • New Komian Club
    Since its inception in 1993, the Komian Club has been YIDFF’s nighttime social hub—a meeting place beloved by filmmakers from around the world where guests, audiences, local citizens, and film professionals come together. Unfortunately, the building was dismantled in 2020 following the closure of Maruhachi Yatarazuke pickle manufacturer. In YIDFF 2023, the club was revived in a new location with the name New Komian Club.

  • Yamagata Film Criticism Workshop
    A workshop program in which participants selected through an open call write and present critiques of films screened at YIDFF, receiving guidance and feedback from professional critics.

  • SPUTNIK
    The festival’s official daily guidebook, SPUTNIK, will feature reviews of festival films as well as essays related to special programs.
