The Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival 2025 successfully came to a close on October 16. Attendance reached over 26,000 from Japan and abroad, and many directors, jurors, guests, and film professionals converged in Yamagata. Our flagship venue at the Central Public Hall and all the other locations were bustling with audiences, creating a lively week filled with the sound of many different languages—just as befits an international film festival.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers and staff who supported the festival in each venue and demonstrated their individual strengths. We extend our thanks to all parties involved in the festival.
The next edition of the festival is scheduled in two years time, in 2027. We look forward to welcoming you back to Yamagata.
