2009-03-06 | Monthly YAMAGATA March

For our March screenings, we bring you two works from Iran and Israel that focus on the lives of women and also deal with the secondary theme of water. In Water and Atefeh from Iran, a woman strives to irrigate a vast stretch of farmland, and Purity from Israel takes a close look at how Jewish women today perceive and struggle with the taboo of impurity. Both are exceptional works by women directors.
