At long last, In Vanda’s Room, winner of the Mayor’s Prize and a FIPRESCI Prize in YIDFF 2001’s international competition, is to receive a theatrical release! Its director, Pedro Costa, was a participant in the Celebrating Yasujiro Ozu’s centenary International Symposium in Tokyo last year. Don’t miss the chance to see this shocking work by Portuguese prodigy which has garnered the acclaim of filmmakers and film fans all around the world.

Pedro Costa Retrospective 2004 in Tokyo

To celebrate the release of In Vanda’s Room, this one-off screening presents four feature-length works by director Pedro Costa, from his first long-form film O Sangue to his latest documentary on Jean-Marie Straub. Costa is also scheduled to make a personal appearance at this event.
