This is a collection of interviews various people gave in response to the posted sign: “Please tell me about someone who pops up in the back of your mind as you go about your daily life but who you probably will never see again.” Those interviews are interlaced with scenery shot in Niigata to gradually carve out the director’s own “living text.”

[Director’s Statement] Often we talk to someone but aren’t on the same wavelength. We don’t understand what the other person is trying to say or we are desperately trying to get the other person to understand us but it appears that he or she has no clue what we’re trying to say. I hope that if we work at it for a long time, we can eventually get our message across. I made this film with that hope in mind.
