Richard Copans (Filmmaker)

Studied in the Camera Department at IDHEC (now La Fémis) from 1966 to 1968. From 1973 to 1978, he was part of the militant film collective Cinélutte. In 1978 he founded Les Films d’Ici, leading it until 2023. As a cinematographer, he collaborated with filmmakers such as Luc Moullet, Robert Kramer, Claire Simon, and Stan Neumann. As a producer, he worked on over 200 documentaries with directors including Amos Gitai, Luc Moullet, Claire Simon, Richard Dindo, Denis Gheerbrant, Stan Neumann, Robert Kramer, and David Teboul. He headed the ARTE “Architectures” documentary series in cooperation with Les Filmsm overseeing 67 films over two decades. Copans has directed 65 television documentaries and four feature-length documentaries: Racines (2002), Un amour (roman) (2015), Monsieur Deligny, vagabond efficace (2020), and Looking for Robert (2024).

Edwin (Filmmaker)

Indonesian filmmaker. His notable works have screened at major festivals like Cannes, Berlinale, and Locarno including Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash (2021). He co-founded Kinosaurus, a Jakarta micro-cinema, and is part of Lab Laba Laba. In 2015, the collective showcased an installation and film workshop at YIDFF 2015.

Azza El-Hassan (Filmmaker)

Filmmaker and a Professor of media practices at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. Her major works include News Time (YIDFF 2001). In 2018, she founded The Void Project, a multimedia production platform that puts to use photos and films that survive violence.

Ishii Gakuryu (Filmmaker)

Directed Crazy Thunder Road (1980), Labyrinth of Dreams (1997) and more. From 2006 to 2023, he served on the faculty of Kobe Design University. In 2010, he changed his name from Ishii Sogo to Ishii Gakuryu. His latest film is The Box Man (2024).

Cristina Piccino (Critic, Film journalist)

Critic and film journalist based in Roma, she is editor-in-chief of the cinema section of the daily newspaper “ il manifesto”. She is a programmer for Filmmaker Festival Milano. She has edited monographs dedicated to Peter Whitehead and Eyal Sivan, publishing essays in numerous collective volumes dedicated to Italian and international cinema.
